In 2014, Strathcona County was ranked 3rd Best Place to Live in Canada.
In 2021, we are now ranked 130th.
What has changed for us to drop so dramatically?
I am sure the residents of Strathcona County want the ranking to improve
and I want to do my best to lead the upward trend.

PRIORITY BASED BUDGETING
Our money should be spent on a “need” not a “want” basis. Council should assess all facilities, programs and services that need funding with appropriate allocation made on the basis of needs not ‘nice to haves’.
TRANSPARENT & TIMELY REPORTING
Councillors should be reporting their activities more effectively to the residents. When was the last time your Councillor informed you of a workshop/conference they attended and how that event benefited the residents - on a Ward-basis in particular and the County in general?
STRONGER INTERACTION WITH RESIDENTS
As Councillor, I will encourage more equitable engagement and input from residents by way of personal meetings and the use of social media platforms.
YOUTH RECONNECT
Actively participate with School Boards and Youth to encourage them to have more community- based involvement.
YOUNG FAMILIES
Why is it so difficult to enrol young children County programs? It is time, as population increases, to look at the needs of the families for affordable housing and extra curricular activities with more emphasis.
SENIORS
We must listen and give more importance to the needs of our Seniors.
COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS
Strengthen neighbour interactions which will create safer neighbourhoods.
